High School EOC Testing - Dates & Information

Subjects and Testing Dates:
English 2 - December 4 (writing) and December 9 (reading)
Biology 1 - December 10
U.S. History and the Constitution - December 11

EOC exams count as 20% of the student’s final course grade, so preparation and attendance are essential.

Attendance:
It is very important that students are present and on time each testing day.
Please avoid scheduling appointments on these testing dates.

Preparation:
Ensure they get a good night’s sleep before each test day.
Encourage them to eat a healthy breakfast.
Remind them to bring their charged Chromebook to school with them.
These tests are not timed so students can perform their best.

In accordance with state law and district policy, students may not be in possession of any electronic device(s) during the test administration that can be used for communicating, recording, timing, creating images, or storing images except for necessary medical devices. Students will be required to store all electronic devices in their backpack or turn them in to the test administrator for the duration of the test. Devices turned over to the test administrator will be returned after each test session is completed.

If a student is found to use a cell phone or other electronic device during a test, the student’s test will be suspended and the device will be collected. Per state test security laws, the device will be searched. The student must provide the school with the cell phone or electronic device, as well as any password, facial recognition, or biometric-protected data needed to open the device. Failure to provide any password, etc. may automatically lead to invalidation of the test score. For EOCEP, this may result in a zero counting as 20% of the student’s final course grade. If a student is found to have used the device to cheat or share secure test content, their score will be invalidated, and the student will be referred to the hearing officer to face disciplinary action, up to expulsion from school. The student and parents may also be found liable for monetary damages to the South Carolina Department of Education for compromised test content.

Biology 1 Exam - Calculator Use
Students taking the Biology 1 exam will use the embedded Desmos calculator as opposed to a personal handheld calculator. The Desmos calculator can be accessed for free at www.desmos.com and is used by students during daily instruction. However, the calculators available on the EOCEP Algebra 1 and Biology 1 exams may differ from the free version. To learn more about the differences between the free Desmos calculator and the testing version used on these exams, visit https://www.desmos.com/testing/southcarolina. From there, download the South Carolina PDF and select the appropriate Desmos testing calculator for your exam.
