2023-2024: Airport athletes participate in signing day ceremonies

WEST COLUMBIA, SC -- Several Airport High School athletes have committed to play their sports at the college level during signing ceremonies at the school.


Among students who have declared their intent during the 2023-2024 school year:

- Football player Dylan Barbrey has signed with Appalachian State University. Among honors this season, he was named All-Region, selected to play in the Touchstone Energy North/South All Star Bowl, and selected as the SCFCA Palmetto Champions 4A Upper State Lineman of the Year. Dylan has completed high school and will head to Appalachian State in January.

- Taylor Gooding and Camryn Turner, both Airport cheerleaders and All-Region selections, have signed with Presbyterian College. Gooding, who is Region Cheerleader of the Year, will join the college’s acrobatics and tumbling team. Presbyterian is one of roughly 15 D1 schools offering the sport. Turner signed with Presbyterian’s cheerleading team.


- Jesse Ray Hoover has committed to University of South Carolina-Sumter to play golf.  Hoover also plays football at Airport.


- Cheerleader Tori Powell has committed to the acrobatics and tumbling team at Limestone University.


Coaches, teammates, fellow students, family members, and faculty and staff have attended this year's signing ceremonies.

“We are extremely proud of our athletes for their achievements,” Airport Athletic Director Shane Fidler said. “They have made their families and community proud by continuing the long tradition of Airport student-athletes competing at the college level. We look forward to following along as they start the next chapter in their lives.”



2022-2023: Airport athletes commit to playing their sports at college level
