3 Airport athletes sign letters of intent

WEST COLUMBIA, SC -- Three Airport High School athletes declared their intent to play their sports at the college level.

 

The three participated in a signing ceremony Thursday. 

 

Volleyball player Lily Virgili signed a letter of intent with Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana. Baseball players Josh Raines and Corbin Wright also signed letters of intent, Raines with the University of South Carolina-Union, and Wright with Coker College.

 

Coaches, teammates, fellow students, family members, and faculty and staff attended the event, which was held in Airport’s school auditorium. 

 

Among other Airport athletes who have signed letters of intent in the 2022-2023 school year:

 

  • DJ McFadden signed a letter of intent to play football with Butler Community College (Kansas). 
  • Alaina Merrick signed a letter of intent to cheer at Newberry College.
  • Apollos Cook signed a letter of intent to play football with Duke University. He graduated early and is now enrolled there.
  • Lexi Bertwell signed a letter of intent to cheer at Newberry College.
