Dual Credit Program for 10th-12th Graders

Eligible 10-12th grade students can take college courses through Midlands Technical College while attending high school. These courses can be counted toward high school and college credit.

DUAL CREDIT Application Process for AHS NEW STUDENTS to Early College:

  1. COMPLETE APPLICATION

New students to program must complete and return the “Early College/Dual Enrollment Application” providing proof of lawful presence in the US (Driver’s License/SC State ID or other listed on application), signatures, etc.

 (Applications are in the Guidance Office and Main Office).

When application is received, students will be scheduled to take the required entrance exam.


  1. TAKE MIDLANDS TECHNICAL COLLEGE ENTRANCE EXAM  

Students will take MTC Entrance Exam (SAT ACCUPLACER and Complete Writing Sample) in the AHS Media Center. They must receive scores required by MTC to participate.

Completed application must be received at least 1 week before the ACCUPLACER Test can be scheduled. Students MUST have social security number to take this test. (This is a MTC requirement.) 

Students will be notified that they are “eligible” or “not eligible” for the 2017-18 Early College Program,” 2-3 weeks after taking MTC Entrance Exam. Eligible students will be scheduled for an Early College Advisement Meeting with Ms. Bledsoe.


  1. PARTICIPATE IN EARLY COLLEGE ADVISEMENT MEETING with Ms. Bledsoe before March 31, 2017.    

Early College course preferences will be selected during this meeting.


  1. ALL students accepted into the Early College Dual Credit Program are required to participate in "Early College Dual Credit Program Orientation."
